American bass, Gregory Sheppard has been heard in opera, concert and recital throughout the US and in Europe and Canada. Among the companies with which has performed include San Francisco Opera and the Western Opera Tour, New York City Opera, Central City Opera, Lake George Opera, Syracuse Opera, Glimmerglass Opera, Opera Memphis, Chattanooga Opera, Orlando Opera, Opera Memphis, Virginia Opera, Nickel City Opera, Connecticut Opera, Buffalo Opera, Ottawa Pocket opera and countless others. His orchestra appearances include soloist with the Orchestra of St. Luke’s, Denver Symphony, Syracuse Symphony, Chattanooga Symphony, Buffalo Philharmonic, New Haven Symphony, Little Orchestra Society, Cayuga Chamber Orchestra, Western New York Chamber Orchestra, Chicago Chamber Orchestra, Metro Chamber Orchestra as soloist in Beethoven’s Ninth Symphony, Verdi’s Requiem, Durafle Requiem, Judas Maccabaeus, Mozart’s Requiem, Magnificat and St. John Passion of Bach, Saint Saen Christmas Oratorio and other concert works. In Europe Mr. Sheppard has performed with the Biennale Festpiel (Munich), Savonlinna Opera (Finland), Wien Festspiel (Vienna) and with Orchestra I Solisti di Roma in Rome, Florence and Sienna. He has appeared at the Bowdoin Music Festival as soloist in Mozart’s Requiem Mass, Cazenovia Counterpoint Festival in the world premiere of Pushed Aside: Reclaiming Gage and at the North Shore Music Festival. Mr. Sheppard was a Metropolitan National Council Auditions Finalist and study grant recipient and has also received the Syracuse Opera Artist of the Year Award, Jan Peerce Scholarship, and Syracuse University Faculty Award, Friday Music Clubs Young Artists Award, Sullivan Foundation grant and numerous others. Upcoming appearances in his 2018/19 season include Sass n’ Class with Opera Ebony, Threepenny Opera for Syracuse Opera, Pushed Aside: Reclaiming Gage for the Society for New Music at Colgate University and Hamilton College, soloist in Messiah with Anastasia Concerts and Melchior in Amahl and the Night Visitors with Anastasia Concerts, Balthazar in Amahl and the Night Visitors with Light Opera of New Jersey, recitals at Utica College, The Long Lake Music Festival and Park Central Church. Mr. Sheppard holds degrees from Syracuse University and New York University.
